Megalis is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is a brand name for the generic drug tadalafil. Megalis is a PDE-5 (phosphodiesterace-5) enzyme inhibitor. Megalis manages the activity of this enzyme to relax muscles and increase the flow of blood to the penis. The increased blood flow makes the penis become firm and erect when combined with sexual stimulation. Using Megalis helps men who have erectile dysfunction achieve an erection and have a satisfactory sexual experience.
Tadalafil is sold under several generic brand names, strengths and forms. Tadalafil is sold under different brand names, manufactured by several pharmaceutical companies, and in varied pharmaceutical forms and strengths. Megalis is manufactured by Macleods and is available in 10 mg and 20 mg tablets.
Megalis is also used to treat symptoms of benign enlarged prostate and it helps to improve stamina in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs to allow more blood flow to the lungs.
How to usemegalis 10mg, 20mg
Follow your doctor’s instruction for taking Megalis. Never change the dosage, or start or stop taking a medication without your doctor’s approval. Your doctor will determine the correct dosage based on your health, age, allergies among other factors.
Take one tablet of Megalis with a full glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet.
To avoid a missed dose or taking too much Megalis, always take your dose at the same time each day. Do not take more than one dose within a 24 hour period. Taking more Megalis than the recommended amount can have life threatening consequences.
If you forget a dose and it has been less than an hour since the dose time, take the dose immediately. If it has been more than one hour or is almost time for your next dose, wait and take the next scheduled dose. Do not take an extra dose to make up for the missed dose.
Warnings and Precautions
Before you begin to take Megalis, it is important to consult with your doctor. You should tell him/her your complete medical history and all of the medications you take. This includes prescription, over-the-counter (OTC), and herbal and vitamin supplements. Follow your doctor’s instructions for taking Megalis. Do not start, stop, or changes the dosage of your medications without consulting with your doctor.
Do not take Megalis if you have an allergy to it or any of its ingredients or if you have had an allergic reaction to any other medications for the treatment of erectile dusfunction.
Do not take Megalis without consulting with your doctor if you:
- have a deformed penis
- have atrial fibrillation
- have diabetes
- have heart disease
- have hepatitis C
- have kidney disease
- have leukemia
- have liver disease
- have myeloma
- have renal failure
- have sickle cell anemia
- have thyroid disorder
- have had a stroke
- suffer from chronic bladder infections
When taking Megalis do not exceed the dosage prescribed by your doctor.
Megalis can cause dizziness, do not drive, operate machinery, or participate in activities requiring mental alertness until you know how Megalis affects you.

Do not share Megalis with anyone else. There is a risk of that person suffering a serious side effect.
Megalis is not intended for use by women, children, or teenagers under 18 years of age.
Do not take Megalis with medications that contain nitrates, this combination could have life threatening consequences.
Megalis does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases. Take precautions, such as using a condom, to protect yourself from infection.
Megalis should be store in a cool dry location away from heat and light. Keep all medications out of the reach of children and pets.
Drug interaction is possible when taking Megalis. Certain drugs increase the risk of serious adverse reactions that affect muscles. Be sure to consult with your doctor if you have the following conditions or take one of these drugs.
- antibiotics such as Clarithromycin
- antidepressants such as Rifabutin
- high blood pressure medications
- medications for enlarged prostate
- medications for other prostate problems
- medications such as Darunavir for treatment of HIV/AIDS
- nitrates such nitroglycerin for angina
