Impotence. What is it?
It was considered not too many years ago, that impotence and a “normal” man are two incompatible things. Luckily these times have passed and now everybody understands that impotence is a very serious disease and unfortunately almost every representative of a “strong sex” can face it nowadays. All in all, impotence mean “absence of penis erection which leads to impossibility of a coitus”.
Very often this of course pathological state is accompanied by lack of libido and orgasm, rapid ejaculation. This, of course, noticeably decreaces quantity and quality of sexual life and affects psychoemotional state, and relations in the family of a man. For a long time all men who informed doctors about decrease of duration and power of erection were diagnosed “impotence”.
However, the majority of these patients had erection, but it’s power was not enough to make a coitus. Besides, it was found out that the number of men with decreased quantity of erection is many times as much as the number of men with it’s total absence. So now the term “erectial dysfunction” is widely spread, i.e. transgression of erection, while impotence is only the darkest side of this transgression.
It is considered that sexual function of penis gets weak after a time, but actually it is wrong. Every single man may have qualitative sexual life in fifty or even sixty years if he has no diseases which may lead to erectial dysfunction. What is the cause? Earlier it was thought that the main reasons of erectial dysfunction were psychological problems or transgression in exchange of sexual hormones.
But now it is clear that the main reason are mechanical changes in mechanism of erection, though psychological factor still bears hard on develop of this disease.
The main reasons of erectial dysfunction are:
mental: stresses
neural: injuries, alcoholism and so on
arterial: hypertension, smoking, diabetes
venous: injury of limitation of blood flow-out mechanism
medicinal: pills lowering blood pressure, antidepressants, etc.
Why does it happen?
There are many reasons, but the main reasons are still the same progressive atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, alcohol addiction, hypertension. These diseases result in changes of vessels: the walls of veins became fragile and frail, and this can lead to impotency.
Diagnosis:
Appeal to pay more attention to your health is not just useless words. Statistic shows that only every tenth man who has faced sexual disorder visit a specialist. However, in more than 50% of all cases, erection can be restored. In this case, visiting of specialist is vital. You should visit an andrologist who will deal with your problem.
Firstly the doctor will find out if transgression in sexual life is caused by diseases of prostate glande or urinary bladder. You may be sent to consult with the urologist with following ultrasonic checkup and blood analysis. If there is no any disease, doctor might sent you to visit an endocrinology specialist because potency transgression is often linked with hormonal disorder. Disorder of vessels, leading to impotence, nowadays are revealed by modern ways of investigatoin. Modern methods are able to show even quantitative and qualitative indexes of blood supply of penis.
